Soft skills count. Develop them!

Elodie Gallais
Planning and Performance Manager, Groupe Rocher Operations, Brittany, France

Can you tell us about what you do at Groupe Rocher and your background, along with the qualities and skills you need to do your job?

I organize scheduling in line with planned volumes for the production lines at one of our factories.

My second role is to deploy the management tools needed to meet future economic challenges.

To do my job well, you need to be curious, be an active listener, and be unbiased. Analytical thinking, capacity to unite people, and experience in continuous improvement are also key in my position.

With a diverse educational background (a degree in applied foreign languages, a master’s in management and a certifying course in purchasing management), I joined Groupe Rocher in 2013 and spent six years in purchasing for packaging and subcontracting. In 2019, I moved into operational excellence, with a lot of training to develop my skills. In July 2024 I was promoted to become Planning and Performance Manager. And my goal is to work in Human Resources one day

How has the group supported you in your learning and what concrete actions have been most useful to you?

The group has always given me the opportunity to take on new positions without any training prerequisites. Each time I learn on-the-job; and each time I change jobs, I benefit from training programs providing me with fundamental technical skills, such as Lean Black Belt training and collective facilitation program, which have enabled me to carry out my duties.

In 2024, I became a leader in the group’s internal community of collective intelligence facilitators in France.

Thanks to the group’s internal mobility program, this is the third position I’ve held in 11 years! These career moves and the associated training courses have allowed me to develop a wide range of skills, such as change management, operational excellence, lean management, and more.

What advice would you give to anyone who wants to go further with their learning?
